MOVING DAY IS COMING!!
Construction work is progressing quickly on our new location at 1320 E. Shaw #100.    The landlord has told us the new building will be ready for us to start moving in later this month.   We still have to wait for new chairs to arrive to replace some of our aging chairs.   We will get new table tops which will allow room for more tables.  We will be setting up and testing  computer equipment and all the other things that go into a new place.   When the chairs arrive, and the table tops are replaced, we will start to transfer furniture and equipment to our new location on Shaw Avenue.  We hope to move in and start playing in the new location right after Easter.
We are grateful that over $15,000.00 has been raised so far to make the move a success.   We should be able to do all the additional things that we wanted to do.  Thanks to Jill Wood and all who have contributed and/or participated in her fundraising projects.
We hope everything goes smoothly.   Building committee chairman Byron Steinert and committee member Mike Molinari have a spreadsheet with a timeline over the next two months showing every detail of the move.  We may put it on the website after the unit board reviews it.
We'll have a silent auction the end of March through April to sell any items that we won't need in the new location.   Be sure to bid on any item that you want.   We could have a rummage sale right after the move to raise additional funds and clear away any items not sold if we had a few volunteers to run a moving sale.
We hope that all our members are pleased with the new location.    After we are sure that everything works the way we want it to work, we would like to have a grand opening and invite all Fresno bridge players to come see.
The new location will start out clean and spotless.   We hope our members can keep it that way, but sometimes we do not view the clubhouse as our clubhouse - but rather as someone else's to take care of and keep clean.   We should all think of the new location as our new home to take care of.    The unit board is considering limiting food to special occasions so that we will be able to keep things clean and tidy.   Let us know what you think of a policy of no food served during most of the games

Enclosed is a history from last month's AP&F.

MAGGIE MAHAFFEY
D21 GOODWILL MEMBER

At the recent regional in Burlingame, Maggie Mahaffey was honored as a Goodwill member of District 21 for the many things she has done for our unit.   The District 21 board members gasped in surprise when they learned that she has been our membership chairman for 38 years.  She truly deserves the honor.  She received a pin which she now wears proudly.  Maggie wishes to thank the unit board for nominating her.

CLUB NEWS
We're getting ready for the big move - some of us have enjoyed our clubhouse for 45 years - we'll be sad to go but looking forward to change.
Top players in Oakhurst for February were Burke Zane, Don McCartin, Mike Molinari, Ken Doig, and Gardner Murray.  Top players in Madera for February were Denny Green and Morgan Johnson, follow by Larry and Gay Slates.  Denny and Morgan lead for 2009.
Maggie is having her famous "Guess Your Score" game on Tuesday March 31.   If you can guess your score exactly before the game starts, you win a prize.
We're glad to see some of our new players moving up.   Beginning players are playing in the 750 point games, and those who usually play in the 750 games are trying the open games.  Everyone learns a little bit when you play against different opponents.
Steve Sharp was the top Fresno Bridge Club player in January, followed by Ray April, Della Schnell, and Verlee O'Neill.  George Dalition led the 99ers, followed by Stephen Blumberg and Linda Coppersmith.

GRAND NATIONAL TEAMS

Open Teams play March 28, 29, and April 4 and 5.   Flight A plays February 7, 8, and March 7 and 8.  Flight B plays April 4 and 5.  Flight C plays March 28 and 29.   All matches are Knockout matches.   Check the District 21 website above for additional information, including times and locations.   All teams should have registered in January.
