| MOVING DAY IS HERE! Friday, April 17, 2009, is the last day of bridge at the Clubhouse on Clinton Ave. We'll be playing the last few days missing our permanent tables - already moved to to 1320 Shaw Ave. Suite 100. We'll be saying goodbye to the place that has been home to club games and sectionals since 1964. Many of us have never known another place to play duplicate bridge. We'll leave behind memories of games directed by Alice Edwards and Grace Willard, Peggy Ochs, Syd Levey, Jerry Faas, Evelyn Maddox, Pearl Lowell, Pat Tylor, Sandy Barnes, Marion Kanter, Jean Kesler, and all our current directors. We'll remember the parties we had here, with Jerry Faas and Jess McCoy often tending bar. We'll cheer that we'll no longer need to pull out the ladder to change the lights. We wonder what ever happened to the casino nights we had here. We'll remember the rummage sales we had to help raise funds for the Clubhouse, and the fashion show to raise money for Hinds Hospice. Many good things have happened here, and we know more good things will happen when we move to our new home. We'll have a silent auction during April of items that we will not be taking to the new location. If you want any of the furniture or other items that we will not use at the new bridge center, please make a bid. Saturday April 18th will be a day to make sure everything is in place at the new Fresno Bridge Center. The directors will learn the new computer system and other changes at our new home. Sunday April 19th will be the first game at the new bridge center. Everyone is invited to come play and check out our new facility. We hope you like it! CLUB NEWS Friday April 17th is the last day at the Clubhouse on Clinton Ave. We may need to eat off paper plates the last few days, but we shall still enjoy the last week. Friday night April 17th will be a Fond Farewell party. Come play bridge, look through our photo albums, and remember the good times we've had here. Friday afternoon will be a pot luck party. We may not have all the equipment we usually have, but we'll remember the last day. The Wednesday morning 49er game will close when we move to the new bridge facility. In its place will be a new Saturday afternoon 49er game, starting April 25, 2009 at the new Fresno Bridge Center. Maggie will have her famous Guess Your Score game on Wednesday April 29th. If you can guess your score, you win a free play. There will be no games on Easter Sunday, April 12, or the Saturday before and after Easter. The top winner in March in Madera was Richard Meffley, followed by Everett Bondeson and Bob Mortimer. Everett Bondeson leads for 2009, followed by Denny Green, Morgan Johnson, and John Simpson. The fourth in the series of bridge lessons will begin on Saturday, May 9th at 9 a.m. The series will be lessons on conventions and more conventions. This will include twelve sessions about some of the most popular conventions. Mike Molinari will give the lessons. Top player for February was Verlee O'Neill, followed by Barbara Thacker and Steve Sharp. Wanda Cardella leads for 2009. Top 99er for February was Linda Coppersmith, followed by Angie Heisdorf and Gwen Davey. Linda leads for 2009. Here's a map, but you'll want to enter from 6th St, not Shaw Avenue.
