| GRADUATION PARTY &
PRO-AM JUNE 7th Sunday June 7, 2009 is our annual graduation party where we honor our newest Life Masters, including Pete Weber, who just made it at the Sacramento regional. Our congratulations go to all new Life Masters. They will be our guests for the graduation party. Please come early for a pot luck lunch at 12:15 pm, and stay for the Pro-Am Pairs to follow at 1 pm. For this event you don't need a team or a partner. The amateurs play as partners with the pros. We'll have a drawing right before the game to pick your lucky partner for the day. Come early so we can choose your partner right away. CLUB NEWS WORLDWIDE PAIRS JUNE 5 Friday evening at 7 pm, June 5th is the Worldwide bridge contest. Players from all over the world play the same hands at the same time, then the scores are sent through the internet to London, England. The scores for each board are matchpointed against every other score for that board. It's like one section with thousands of tables in the section. You have a chance to see how you stack up against pairs from all over the world. Each player gets a booklet with hand analyses by expert players. Come enjoy the game. Six tables of social bridge players visited the bridge center last month. Dora Gostanian and Mary Jo provided lunch, and then our guests played bridge. Suzanne Graham brought two tables, and another table came from Corcoran. They had a tour of the bridge center, and had a great time. Oakhurst leaders for May were Betty Ann Dunn, Burke Zane, Karen and Don McCartin, and Mike Molinari. Everett Bondeson and Bob Mortimer led Madera players in May, with Dan Cartago and Carol Kaufman right behind. Denny Green still leads for the year, with Everett Bondeson and Morgan Johnson less than a point behind. Top players at the Fresno Bridge Center were Steve Sharp, followed by Skip Miller and Jill Wood. Steve leads for 2009. Top 99ers for April were John McGregor and Patrick Carroll. George Dalition leads for 2009. We had several overall winners in the STAC games - those listed with numbers in brackets finished in the overalls, others won section tops locally. It's not easy to make the overalls - during STAC week, there were over 8,100 tables playing, with 10,317 players winning silver points. The last Tuesday of June is Guess Your Score game. If you guess your score in Maggie's 750 game, you win a free play. UNIT NEWS We are settling in to our new bridge club and enjoying it.
