| WINTER SECTIONAL March 4-7 It's soon time for our winter sectional. The schedule is much the same as the sectional last October. Once again, we will have compact knockout teams starting on Saturday morning at 10 am. A change is that the 299er events will become 499er events, to allow more of our players to be able to choose between the open event and a limited event. The Friday afternoon game will be held in memory of Mary Jo Davila, who passed away in January. She had been hospitality co-chair of our sectional for several years, helping to make our tournaments a fun experience for all. The tournament will feature refreshments at all sessions, with a free lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Please contact hospitality co-chairs Dora Gostanian and Jackie Finn if you wish to contribute refreshments, or sign up at the bridge center. Tournament chairman Mike Molinari has been working with ACBL to insure that we have a great tournament, with minimum costs and maximum enjoyment. If you don't have all your partnerships lined up, please check with our partnership chairman, Mike Molinari 559-658-7318. KAY CHRISMAN - DISTRICT 21 GOODWILL AWARD District 21 annually honors members who make outstanding contributions to their units. At the recent meeting of the District 21 board of directors, Kay Chrisman was honored by receiving the Goodwill Award. Kay has served as unit secretary for several years, and was instrumental in last year's move to the new Bridge Center. She taught the directors how to run the computer and the scoring system, which uses a new operating system and a Windows scoring program rather than the previous DOS scoring program. She continues to manage the bridge center and provides continuing education for our bridge directors. Thanks, and congratulations. LESSONS Beginning lessons start again at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010. They will be taught by Mike Molinari. Call him at 658-7318 for more information. These lessons are appropriate for anyone who has not played bridge before, as well as those who haven't played in several years, or those who have never had lessons. The third of the lesson series starts on Tuesday night at 7 pm on March 23, 2010, at the Fresno Bridge Center. The lessons are on defense, taught by Richard Meffley. Registration is through Clovis Adult School . Students can also register at the first class. .
