A candidate may not belong to a unit presently having a board member whose term does not expire December 31, 2006. Specifically, no candidate may be from Fresno, Unit 522; Dana Point, Unit 538; and Inland Valley, Unit 534. Each of these units currently has a representative serving on the district board. However, these units can, if they wish, nominate a candidate from another unit within the area. Units nominating a member to the board should forward a brief resume to be included with the final voting instructions to be sent out in October.
Candidates must be willing to serve on the District 22 Board of Directors as an Area Representative and must attend three (3) to four (4) meetings a year which are held at regional tournaments within the geographical boundaries of District 22. Nominations must be received at the district office by September 30, 2006. Interested parties are encouraged to contact their unit president or secretary. Self-nominations may be made by (confidential) letter to the District 22 Board of Directors, Don Daly, secretary, 1825 Sweet Briar Place, Thousand Oaks CA 91362-1258, Phone: 805 492-3255, e-mail: d9dtoca@aol.com
(Area III representatives terms do not expire this year, therefore no nominations or election is required.)
During the first week of October, unit presidents will receive ballots for their respective unit board members to use in casting their votes. The ballots must be returned to the district secretary by December 1, 2006. The district secretary will determine which nominee received a majority of the votes.
The District 22 board will then certify the results. The ballot count will be “weighted” per the membership count in each unit.
